A Night in the Barbary Coast

We had a great time dressed in theme attire as 1920’s bartenders. We saw so many people having a great time at the silent auction, the card tables, and on the dance floor, we felt pretty honored to be pouring at this City of Dreams Foundation event. We defiantly will be pouring at this in 2010.

Proceeds from the event are donated to the City of Dreams Foundation, a registered, 501(c)3 organization founded in 2004 and based in San Francisco. The City of Dreams Foundation serves youth ages 10 – 18 living in San Francisco’s low income housing communities including Hunter’s Point, Hunter’s View, Sunnydale, Oakdale and Alice Griffith. It is a volunteer-based organization supported by more than 200 volunteers and 81 year-round, dedicated mentors. This unique program is designed to build young people’s developmental assets by teaching 12 fundamental life lessons at 24 experimental learning events throughout the Bay area each year. Trained staff and caring mentors provide support and mentorship for each young person enrolled in City of Dreams.

The Alegria Guild, founded in 1950, of Central California’s Children’s Hospital hosted the 58th Annual Day in the Country on October 3, 2009. Alegria Guild is a non-profit organization that raises funds for the Children’s Hospital $5 million Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Endowment.

Children’s Hospital Central California is one of the ten largest children’s hospitals in the country and the only one located in a rural area. Their primary service area encompasses over 45,000 square miles, stretching from Stockton to Bakersfield and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the largest service areas of any children’s hospital in the nation. The doors of Children’s Hospital Central California are always open to the children in need of medical care, regardless of their ability to pay.

The annual Day in the Country is the guild’s largest fundraising event each year with about 450 guests. This luncheon combines delicious food in a beautiful setting with local artisans, live entertainment, the famous Alegria Guild bake sale and a silent auction. All proceeds directly benefit the children of our valley and far beyond.

Twin Poms was honored to donate a case of our 100% California Pomegranate wine to the silent auction and to the bar for donors to try, enjoy, and donate.
